LAPEMI is the processor of the emissions of the Lagrangian particle model LAPMOD that can be used when emission data are available as annual totals.

LAPEMI produces the file of emissions with hourly resolution starting from the annual emissions of each source, and using 3 profiles of temporal modulation:

  • an annual profile (made of 12 numbers indicating the monthly variations),
  • a weekly profile (made of 7 numbers indicating the daily variations),
  • a daily profile (made of 24 numbers indicating the hourly variations).

It is also possible to specify in a file the list of dates corresponding to holidays.

Calculation methodology

The LAPEMI processor determines the hourly emissions in terms of g/s starting from the annual emissions and from three time modulation profiles: annual, weekly and daily. The expression used for the calculation of the emission rates is the following:

`R(SP,SO,M,D,H) = E_gamma(SP,SO) P_Y(SO,M) P_W(SO,D) P_D(SO,H) N(M) C(SP) `

The different factors appearing in the formula are defined in the following table:

`R(SP,SO,M,D,H)` Rate, in g/s, for species SP emitted by source SO during hour H of day D in month M
`E_gamma(SP,SO)` Annual emission of species SP emitted by source SO (always expressed as MASS/TIME and units that can depend from the species - see the main input file of LAPEMI)
`P_Y(SO,M)` Factor of month M of the annual time modulation profile of source SO
`P_W(SO,D)` Factor of day D of the weekly time modulation profile of source SO
`P_D(SO,H) ` Factor of hour H of the daily time modulation profile of source SO
`N(M)` Normalization factor of source SO. It is 1 for point sources, their length for line sources, their area for area sources, and their volume for volume sources.
`C(SP)` Factor to convert the emissions of species SP in g/s
