EMITRA
EMITRA is a software application with graphical user interface which allows to estimate the fuel consumptions and the atmospheric emissions due to road transport in the frame of a regional atmospheric emission inventory. The software carries out all the calculations needed for evaluating the impact of the whole CORINAIR SNAP code 07 on atmospheric emissions.
EMITRA considers 3 fuel types: gasoline, diesel and LPG. The vehicles mileages are estimated comparing the fuel consumption calculated by the model against the actual fuel consumption available from the oil sales bulletin.
Road traffic emissions are calculated as described by the COPERT III methodology of the European Environment Agency. The methodology allows to calculate fuel consumption and pollutant emissions as function of:
- vehicle classes (105 classes depending on typology, age, ...);
- fuel used;
- average speed;
- road type (urban, rural, highway);
- cold emissions;
- average load (only for heavy duty vehicles);
- average road slope (only for heavy duty vehicles);
- EU Directive for the fuel (1996, 2000 or 2005).
EMITRA calculates:
- the annual consumptions of all the COPERT III vehicle classes for each diffuse (area) and linear (main roads) source;
- the annual mileages of all the COPERT III vehicle classes for each diffuse (area) and linear (main roads) source;
- the tailpipe emissions of 16 pollutants of all the COPERT III vehicle classes for each diffuse (area) and linear (main roads) source;
- the NMVOC evaporative emissions of the gasoline-fueled COPERT III vehicles;
- the particulate emissions due to wear processes of tyres, brakes and road surface for 5 particle sizes, TSP (or PM30),
PM10, PM2.5, PM1.0, PM0.1;
- the emissions summarised for each activity of CORINAIR SNAP code 07.
Some features:
- loads vector images (ESRI shapefile) of the domain of interest;
- graphical queries clicking on the cartography loaded;
- graphical representation of fuel consumption, of tailpipe emissions, of evaporative emissions and of emissions due to wear of tyres, brakes and road surface;
- graphical representation of absolute emissions and density of emissions;
- copy and paste functions of maps and legends;
- main output files produced in CSV format foe MS Excel.
