Abstract

The preliminary phase of a project requires sometimes an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). This phase has a crucial role, in particular when the project to be realised modifies large portions of very populated urban areas, then acting on the every day life of a lot of people. This paper, after the introduction of the main ltalian and regional (Lombardy) laws concerning EIA, illustrates a methodology for the assessment and the evaluation of interventions of recovery of large portions of the urban territory. The methodology has been applied to three case studies, briefly described in the text, in the city of Milan. Finally some possible modelling tools that can be used both to define the current environmental state and to estimate future states corresponding to different project scenarios are presented.
